2 nods for Isobelle!

I just received word that my watercolor Isobelle is one of 60 chosen out of a total of 340 submissions for inclusion in the 2009 New England Watercolor Society Regional Show! The show will take place at the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, MA from Sept.13, 2009 - Jan. 24, 2010.
Isobelle was also selected as a finalist, (though alas, not an award winner) in the Animal/Wildlife category of The Artist's Magazine 26th Annual Art Competition. As a finalist my name will be featured in the December issue of the magazine! (Yeah it'll probably be in fine print in the back of the magazine with dozens of other finalists but it's a start, right?)

SOS Success!
Well this past weekend was Open Studios and it was a blast! It was fantatstic getting to meet so many people and hear their thoughts on my work. I sold some prints, almost all of my notecard packs and at least one party seemed interested in purchasing an original! I'd say I did pretty well for a semi-newbie and it's definitely spurring me on to pursuing my goal of being a professional artist. Thanks to all my family and friends who supported me in this endeavor, especially Dave (and Joanna!) for letting me piggy back on their gallery space.

Somerville Open Studios Artists' Choice Opening Reception
There is an opening reception and preview Artists' Choice Exhibit tonight from 6-9 pm at the Somerville Museum. My painting, A Sunny Summer Day Lily, will be on display as well as a variety of work by many other participating artists.
From somervilleopenstudios.org:
Stop by the Artists' Choice Exhibit at the Somerville Museum for a chance to view the work of many participating artists in a single location. With all SOS artists invited to select one piece to include this group exhibit, the show is an enjoyable and convenient way to help plan your SOS itinerary.
The exhibit will be on view during the Museum's regular hours. And if you don't have a chance to stop by beforehand, you can still get an early start on SOS weekend since the exhibit opens one hour earlier than artists' studios.
Hope you can make it!

Somerville Open Studios 2009
The ever gracious and multi-talented (musician, photographer, mixer of delightful drinks and griller of tasy deliciousness) Dave Anastasi who has participated in the Somerville Open Studios for the past few years has invited me to share space with him this year and I'm jumping at the chance to show again. It's been over 10 years since I had my first/last show and I'm finally ready to get out there and try to make a name for myself as an artist. 'Bout time, huh?

Dave will be featuring a collection of abstract photography and I'll be showing a selection of my watercolor paintings. We're a 2 minute walk from the Vernon Street Studios so there is a great variety of work to see in the immediate vicinity and most artists (including us) will have nibblies and beverages on hand. What could be better than eating free food and drinking free drinks while supporting the arts?

Shout out for WE3TEES
The shirt blog SingulariTee (run by AdderXYU, a regular on shirt.woot), gave our WE3TEES shop a shout out earlier this week. As one of the harshest critics on shirt.woot, it's truly an honor to have created work held in esteem by this guy. Thanks Adder!
